Background
oDoc is a mobile health application that secured $1 million in seed funding to revolutionize the way people access healthcare. Designed to offer quick and convenient access to licensed doctors, oDoc enables users to consult remotely through secure video calls, receive expert medical advice, and obtain prescriptions all from the comfort of their mobile devices. According to the NIHR, 90% of general consultations can be done remotely, making oDoc especially valuable for users in rural areas or those with demanding schedules. Operating in regions such as Singapore, India, and Sri Lanka, the platform is built to bridge healthcare accessibility gaps through a seamless, intuitive, and user-friendly digital experience.
Problem
Accessing timely medical consultations and prescriptions is often difficult, particularly in remote areas or during urgent health concerns. This lack of accessibility presents a significant barrier to healthcare, especially for those with busy schedules or limited local healthcare options.
Process
Understand: Interviewed users and analyzed competitors to identify a clear need for fast, accessible, and trusted remote healthcare.
Define: Mapped key pain points like delays and trust issues, created personas, and prioritized problems based on user impact.
Design & Test: Designed a simple, high-fidelity interface, collaborated with developers, and refined the product through QA and user testing.

Easy Consultations
Users can browse through a list of licensed doctors, view detailed profiles with specializations and experience, and initiate video or audio consultations with a single tap. This streamlined flow ensures quick access to medical help without the need for physical appointments.
"I was a bit skeptical at first, but oDoc completely changed how I think about healthcare. I booked a video call in minutes, spoke to a real doctor, and had my prescription sent straight to my phone. It saved me a trip to the clinic and a whole lot of time. Super convenient."

Outcome
Within six months, by March 2015, we successfully delivered a fully functional mobile application. This MVP served as a pivotal milestone, enabling us to secure $1 million in investor funding and laying the foundation for oDoc’s future growth.
Learning
We began as a team of three, navigating everything from design and QA testing to daily stand-ups with overseas developers and early-stage marketing. This experience taught us how to build collaboratively, adapt quickly.
